Nine dead, 15 injured in blast at…..

April 14 – At least nine people were killed and ​15 injured following a blast ‌in a boiler unit of a power plant on Tuesday that was ​operated by India’s Vedanta ​in the central Indian state of ⁠Chhattisgarh, local police said.

The ​cause of the explosion was not ​yet known.

The incident took place at Singhitarai, about 230 km away from the ​state capital of Raipur.

The ​blast was likely caused by overheating in ‌the ⁠boiler tube, said P. K. Thakur, superintendent of police of Sakti district, where the plant is ​located.

In a ​statement, ⁠Vedanta said an “unfortunate incident” had occurred at its ​Singhitarai plant and that ​a ⁠thorough investigation was being undertaken to ascertain details.
The company did not ⁠provide ​details or disclose ​the number of casualties.
